I had the pleasure of meeting Krystopher Sapp at his opening at The La Luz De Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles, CA a few month's ago. Krys's assemblages have a dark and twisted feel and are sure to attract collectors of the macabre.
Krystopher Sapp Bio
Krys did attend some art school but dropped out due being just burnout . Most of his time is spent trying to improve his skills by self teaching and studying how things or process other artists do their work. Krys is a big fan of miniature work , and spends most of his time spent painting military miniatures or fantasy type figures.
Krys has a personal drive to create material that is based more in horror and dark subject matter. At a very early age he exposed to horror by films and film posters. Krys's family runs a collectable movie poster and toy business that he grew up with and helped run. Krys says he's pretty much a nerd at heart.
Krys says he's been very lucky to have been able to show his work in art galleries on both coasts.
Some of the galleries include: LA LUZ DE JESUS, COPRO GALLERY, HYAENA GALLERY , NIGHT GALLERY CERAMICS
Krys's work is pretty much all assemblage art work. He says he takes found or purchased objects and transform them into art. The biggest challenge for him is building cities or cityscapes. He says those are the most fun, looming monstrous buildings with a foreboding doom. To Krys, it all has a story to tell.
"Yes, my work does tend to glorifies darkness or dark tones," Krys explains, " but what I'm trying to convey is a sense of longing of all things old, making them feel somewhat magical, if not simply embracing the antiquity of the artifacts of my work."
As for commercial work, Krys has done that too. When he's not building, he's sketching -- most of his line work has graced many posters for punk shows or psychobilly shows.
Krys has done poster work for such bands as -- THE DAMNED, ADOLESCENTS, 45GRAVE, DEMENTED ARE GO, NEKROMANTIX, METEORS and ZOMBIE GHOST TRAIN.
Krys has had his fine art work used in videos as well. MORBID ANGEL used his work in their Existo Vulgore-- video and SOULFLYS used works in their World Scum video.
Krys's work can be purchased at the following galleries:

From the La Luz De Jesus Gallery:
Krystopher Sapp‘s assemblage has been featured at the L.A. Municipal Art Gallery, included in Chet Zar’s lauded Conjoined exhibitions, and featured prominently in videos by Florida Death Metal progenitors, Morbid Angel. Using Home Depot as his art supply store, Sapp creates intensely technical sculptures that address the horrors of war, the wonders of science, and the inevitability of mortality.
Give me your wretched, your disillusioned, and forgotten. For in the shadow of darkness they will stand in my light. For I am the builder, the architect, their creator. They shall be built from my light. –Krystopher Sapp
